St Mary's and St John's Bell Ringers

General Information
The Bells and Ringers

SHOTTESBROOKE: The six bells are in good working order and are of some antiquity. Three of the bells date from the first half of the 17th century, with the newest (the treble) being added in 1964.

The frame and fittings are in good order and the ropes are fairly new. The ringing chamber is spacious and has the benefit of electric light, unlike the rest of the church. We have five ringers + but are always ready to recruit new members.

WHITE WALTHAM: There is also a ring of six bells which were re-cast and re-hung in a new frame by Whitechapel Bell Foundry in 1989. We are fortunate to have an excellent set of bells which make it very easy for teaching. The ringing chamber is cozy, part of which is occupied by the clock mechanism, which is over 100 years old.
