Locality

The Parishes of Shottesbrooke and White Waltham lie on the southwestern boundary of Maidenhead. Woodlands Park, where the Vicarage is situated, is included in the Parish of White Waltham and is about four miles from the centre of Maidenhead.

Woodlands Park is a residential area built mostly since the last war. It has local shops, doctors surgery etc., and bus services to central Maidenhead.

White Waltham is a small but active village surrounded by farmland and with a number of Ministry of Defence houses. It has the Church, the School, a pub opposite the cricket ground but no shops except for an organic farm shop at Waltham Place.

Shottesbrooke is a rural parish with a small, scattered population and centered on Shottesbrooke Park which is the home of Sir John and Lady Smith and where the church is situated.

Most of the land in the parishes is agricultural and in the ownership of three estates - Shottesbrooke Park, Waltham Place (White Waltham) and Manor Farm (Paley Street). There is some commercial development but most parishioners commute to nearby towns or London.

There is a main line station at Maidenhead and the M4 motorway provides easy access to Heathrow Airport and London. At Woodlands Park there is a flying club using the small, private White Waltham airfield.

The population of White Waltham (including Woodlands Park) is about 3000 and Shottesbrooke 150.
Parish Hall

The Parish Hall, in the village of White Waltham, is owned not by the church but by the Parish Council. It is used for variety of functions by local organisations, and the church uses it regularly for Annual Parochial Church Meeting and some meetings of the Parochial Church Council and the Christian Aid lunches.
